Faith
Happy Sabbath folks.
I (re)read this tonight. I thought it was wonderful.
"Now Faith, in the sense in which I am here using the word, is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted, in spite of your changing moods." -CS Lewis
This is why I love CS Lewis. The full quote is better, but I won't belabor it. We all have changing moods--Christian or not. And by moods I don't think Clive (yes, by this point I am on a first name basis with him) means emotional mood swings...
And it is the case that as humans we are daily assailed with these changing moods, daily tempted, and daily wavering. And yet it's the case that somewhere along the line, we made a choice to follow one option which turns out to be completely incompatible with others... and so the question is if we'll stick to it, even when we don't feel like it... even when we really don't feel like it. Even with our entire body screams in apathy (can one scream apathy?) or hatred or that "just this one last time!" Even then. Will we..?
There are times when our allegiance to what we have professed to believe want to shift... at these times, hold steady... hold steady....
